wanted dead or alive bulletbird side chrome mouldings
im after some chrome side mouldings from a bulletbird... the ones that go along top of fender /door/ rear fender, even if theyre ones that you replaced with better ones as theyll be used on a non standard application... needed dead or alive... prefer dirt cheap and local
ive got a heap of standard bits to trade that i wont be using, some trims and badges/steering wheel/aircleaner/hubcaps/lenses/grille etc

Thats a bit harse, Barry has been very well priced as of late, and Startbird has a few parts he may also trade with Barry, I have in the past and he has been very generous with me.

Hmmm, you reap what you sow...I can only give you the facts.
A member of the Thunderbird club was after a set of front springs and he had dealt with Barry before - the price quoted was $450. So, being annoyed, given the springs are about that shipped in from the US he asked another member who was on better terms with Barry to price the same springs...$350.
Be careful out there.

Thats what I would call mates Rates, and theres nothing wrong with that.
my first bibs and bobs were a few dollars more than what I would normally pay, but theres a thing called bartering, I gave Barry some parts I did not need anymore and put the trust into our freindship, to in tail to get better prices.

I just pay whatever barry asks
Remember if barry wasnt around where would you buy your parts from?
He helps me out all the time
When the flip panel motor shit itself i paid whatever he asked and he help me fit and adjust it at no charge

Yes it is true that sometimes Barry is a bit steep but that's only because he bought a container full of parts when the Aussie dollar was shit, so he has been trying very slowly to re-coop that money. Once you do get to know him his prices are very reasonable. I bought a master power switch control for the console and he was $40 cheaper than they were in the States without shipping. Also if you do get the wrong part from Barry he will gladly exchange it but if it came from the US then you would have to ship it back to them and pay the shipping. Like the "My Thunderbird & 1965tbird" said if you have parts that you don't need then barter with him. All in all Barry is a great knowledge of information once you know him as well.
Cheers.

Re: wanted dead or alive bulletbird side chrome mouldings
Interesting thread; just thought I would add something and see what you guys think or am I barking up the wrong tree?
I spent in excess of $1k with Barry, from hood linings, boot lining, parts for the brakes, there was heaps of items I purchased. All good, happy to pay the price and we were on good terms and Barry even lent me a spring compressor which was great of him. Then one day I got one of the TOCA members who just had his 66' restored by Barry to pickup a used idler arm bracket for me to find out later that it was $130, daylight robbery! Was it that much because of his relationship with the chap who had the 66' - no, I called him and he would not budge on the price. I paid him and have not purchased anything else from him since, 5 years ago.
I don't believe in mates rates especially with a small group like Thunderbird owners, it's too easy to be caught out and lose a good customer.
Anyone here with a late 62' care to contact Barry and get a price for a set of inner door panels for me?
Cheers,
Graeme
