Hi from Kev
Hi
I'm new to forums but I'm pretty bloody (oops can I swear) excited, I've always loved classic cars but bringing up a family and paying a mortgage has prevented me owning one, my wife and I have always talked about owning one and we get to as many shows as we can we use to live in Bendigo and drive down for the bigger shows in Melbourne, It's amazing I've spent the last 24 hrs reading thru I think every story on this site, I've seen so many of the beautifull TBirds here at shows I spoke to Dave & Kevin at smoking Aces in Williamstown last year great guys thanks for spending time talking to and helping me fellas, they told me about this place, I've been looking in on here for a while and it's this site that made me want a TBird, No other make/model seems to have a site like this where everyone is friendly and helpful and you get to see lots of the beautiful cars.
like I said earlier I've never been able to afford a classic car but now the kids have moved out and I'm in my late 50's I figure if I don't do it soon i'll never do it so I spoke to the bank manager did a redraw on the house loan and surprised the wife Carroll with a holiday to California, when we got there we spent 3 days looking at cars I had lined up thru Craigs list and ebay, I bought a car from ebay Yep I bought a TBird (sounds like the Jeep ad on TV), for $9500 US it's nothing like the cars on here but it's ok and it's mine, I know I've got work to do when it arrives in Aus but I also bought all the interior trim pieces, rubbers, bushes, weatherstips and every workshop manual ever made for one of these cars and everything else I could think of and put it all in the car to be shipped back. We went on with our Holiday after buying the car but I don't sleep much at night now just thinking about the TBird and what I want to do to it. Sorry guys I do waffle on when I get started. Anyway we just got back and we are back at work just waiting for the day when my baby arrives in Australia. I've got some snaps of here so I'll see if I can get them on here. Thanks for listening I feel privelidged to be part of this site, thank you.

Hi Kev and Carroll, my wife (Sue) & I (John) have just become members of the forum as well. We have found the people on here to be very friendly & helpful. On the main home page is a section on how to post pics. Sue found it very helpful on putting up some of our 64 restoration. Hope to see some of your pics on here soon cheers John & Sue

Welcome Kev.
Exciting / anxious / nervous wait ahead waiting for your Flair Bird to arrive.
You may have already found some TBird parts suppliers.
I have used LARRY'S and CASCO for baby bird parts and accessories.
Thunderbird Headquarters is another one for the big birds - http://www.tbirdhq.com/catalog/2014-58-69-catalog.pdf
Gio & Dave (who should visit this site soon and also welcome you on board) are a fantastic source of first hand knowledge for Flair Birds as they have both done a ton of work on their 64's.
Regards James

Welcome to the forum Kev and Carroll
Great to have another "Flairbird" in the flock.
She looks quite good in the photos but as the guys have said, the waiting to get here in your garage is going to hurt !!
See you on the road soon

Hi Kev
I remember talking to you at Williamstown, I think at the time you were hoping to eventually get a Pontiac Trans Am, It's great to see you decided on a TBird and i gotta say it looks like a great buy for that sort of money, so what now 6 weeks of waiting, Oh man that is painfull, who did you ship with. So you are obviously a Melbourne local. well if you need help the boys here are pretty good, another great resource is VTCI Vintage Thunderbird Club international It's American and has lots of very knowledgeable TBird guys.keep us updated Kev and in the meantime find some good books to read, Hmmmm 6 weeks try War & Peace Cheers Dave

Re: Hi from Kev
Gee thanks for the warm welcome guys, Carroll is sitting with me so i wont swear this time. LOL. Hi JPtbird, I saw your beautifull car at the Hot Rod show last year, my appologies for drooling all over it. It is just gorgeous. I got my stuff from TBHeadquarters while i was over there. Dave War & Peace you reckon, Carroll reckons i have to get the garden perfect because when the TBird arrives I'll get nothing done. We now live in Keysborough I'm hoping that Jets Car Club might have a spot for me when she's ready hint hint Dave Thanks for the tip on VTCI great site for advise but not many pics of cool cars. Back soon Kev & Carroll

Hi Kev
Careful of that working in the garden caper, It's not good for you, It's a bit like washing the dishes you have to find a way out of it, Here's what works for me, Dishes just drop and break a few, I haven't washed a dish for years.
Garden is a little trickier, You've gotta get a weed wand and accidentally kill some of those pretty little plants with the flowers on them, Job done now you're free to get to those books or even better work on the car.
On a serious note: No probs i'll keep a spot for you in the Jets car club, don't wait till the car is finished start coming along now and get to meet the crew, Yours will take us to Thunderbird No 17 in the club
we have 5 Bullet Birds and 12 Flairbirds, plus Camaro's, Corvettes, Plymouths, Mustangs Chargers a GT Falcon, 1 x Hot Rod he's an Honorary member and a Led Sled.
I'll send you info on the next club event which is February 1st. Gio is organising a non club day at the Hot Rod show this Sunday you're welcome to join us. first we got to the RACV show at Royal Botanic Gardens then the Hot Rod show in Carlton then to a restaurant for Pizza & Beer. Let me know if you want more info

Re: Hi from Kev
Thunder Parts is Barry's company and I would think he should have them.
Number is (03) 9331 6867 - took a while to find it, for some reason the local TOCA website does not list him anymore?
There is a fellow selling them on ebay here in Melbourne, he is known to be a rude son of a bitch (Dave/Gio will attest to that) but if they are any good might be worth a look see? Here is the link http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/FORD-THUNDERBIRD-SPAT-1964-1965-1966-TBIRD-FE-390-64-65-66-WRECKING-NOW-61-66-/141171084702?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item20de73cd9e&_uhb=1

Hi Kev,
I just thought i'd let you know that I was just on ebay and it seems as though your bird
is still listed for sale.
It might pay to check this out.

Thanks Graeme & Bulletbird
I spoke to this guy the other day, he was good on the phone, but you have to set a time to meet with him, he wants $200 the pair for good skirts.
Hi Gary
Yep I know it's still listed the owner doesn't know how to take the ad down. I had a mate call him pretending to be interested in the car and the Guy straight up said it's already sold to an Aussie.

That's good to hear.
I think you got yourself a real beauty there Kev.
Looks nice and straight and a good platform to take it to the next level.
Me I'm still looking for that elusive bargain and something that won't break the bank.
All the best

Re: Hi from Kev

I was the same mate, I needed something with not too many issues but still cheapish, I had a bit of a heart scare last year spent a few days in Hospital and it made me realise there were still lots of things I wanted to do and at the head of the list was to own a classic join a club and just enjoy cruising with it. I didn't have the cash to spend to make it happen so the wife said use the equity in the house, so we did a redraw on the mortgage and I tell you I'm like a kid at Christmas the doctor even reckons my general health is improving and you know what I reckon it's down to all of this. Kev,
If you don't mind telling us who did you use to do the shipping and the paper work and how much did it set you back on top of the purchase of your T-bird.
If you would prefer to keep it quiet then could you 'private message me'
Cheers
