New to T-Bird forum
Hi my name is John I am restoring a 64 hardtop. Both my wife(Sue) & I are in our 60s', have 4 grown up kids , 11 grandchildren & 3 Great grand children. I own a dog who is like another kid spoilt rotten. the bird isn't registered yet as we are still working on it. So far I have reconnected all the wiring the whole car, had some of the chromework redone, new upholstery & am at present stripping the paintwork off the car (all 7 colours of it. We thought we might start getting out & start to meet a few people before the t-bird is finished. We noticed that a few of the thunderbird owners meet over at the BP Eastlink; where abouts in the servo do you meet please? Cheers John Wiggett

That's looking good John,
What colour have you got in mind.
You could go the latest custom look and just put clear over the bare metal. But i'm sure you're not about to go that way.

Hi Sue
That should look great with the White interior. Really looking forward to seeing the finished product, another Top notch Flairbird in Melbourne.
Re: New to T-Bird forum
John & I spent 2 years rebuilding a Skyfox Gazelle that was tipped over in a freak storm at the International Air Show in 2009 and had a fair amount of damage done to it. We enjoyed working on the plane together along with a mechanic friend of ours that when the T-Bird came up for sale we decided to buy it as John has always wanted a 64 bird. He is doing an excellent job on the repairs which is something he has never done before. His mate refuses to help him (only if he really gets stuck) he will give him a hand or advice. He told him if he fixes it himself he will know what to do if he breaks down or whatever. So far he has learnt rewiring, spray painting, fibre glassing & sanding all new to him. It was nothing to go outside & find John & dog in the boot or inside the car one working the other keeping him company. I am proud of John's efforts he has done a great job so far and am looking forward to him getting the car on the road so that we can spend our weekends together.
Thanks Dave it is actually a very pale blue/grey color with a darker blue trim. The door panels are the lighter color on top then the lower part in the darker blue. Roof lining will be the blue/grey color.

Re: New to T-Bird forum
Hi Sue
Great effort and John (and the Dog) are to be congratulated, several guys on this forum have undertaken similar rebuilds but I'd say in almost every case there has been a background of fiddling or totally rebuilding cars in thier past, so to take on a job like this with limited car restoration experience is a very gutsy effort. I remember speaking to a gent at Gembrook I think it was probbably 2 years ago he owned a Plane but was thinking of buying a Thunderbird. I'm wondering if that might be John.

That is funny Dave as John rang me before to say he had just got a message on his Phone with the pics on it. I mentioned that you had commented & he said that he thought you had a burgundy & white car he thought & he had spoken to you up at Gembrook a couple of years ago.

Thank you. Were you with a group of owners standing at a teal colored t-bird by any chance?

Yep that was me. The teal one belongs to Neil Dean. I think Chris who owns a Samoan Coral (Pink) 64 was also there. and Terry Black with a Red & Black Desoto or some such NON Thunderbird, Cant recall who else.
Here is Neils car from that very day, parked next to Terrys later tBird.
Re: New to T-Bird forum
That's the one I went off & had a look around & John was still with you all when I came back. I think we are going to Gembrook this year also that is of course it hasn't been on already.
